Phoenix

Programme notes

PHOENIX offers up cautionary stories from the past, present, and future that explore the repercussions of the quest for eternal life. From great warriors to greedy princesses to ambitious scientists to ordinary people, the dream of immortality has led to the death of thousands and the rise and fall of civilizations. Though many perish because of their desires, perhaps they are the luckiest because true pain comes to those who experience the burden of living forever.
